A moving average (SMA) is a technical-analysis tool applied to the lottery: instead of one static frequency over the whole archive, we compute the share of draws containing the number within a moving window. The fast SMA (short window) reacts to recent changes, the slow one (long window) smooths out fluctuations; their crossover marks a trend change — the analogue of the “golden” and “death” crosses in trading.

- k — how many of the last N draws contained the number;
- N — the window size (fast and slow windows are computed separately; presets — 10/50, 20/100, 10/200, 50/200);

What is a moving average (SMA) in a lottery?
It is the share of draws containing a number, computed within a moving window of the N most recent draws. For every KENO number two lines are built: the fast SMA (short window) reacts to recent changes, while the slow SMA (long window) smooths out random fluctuations. This turns a static frequency into dynamics.
What does a crossover of the fast and slow SMA mean?
A trend change. The fast line crossing the slow one upwards means the number has been appearing more often than its long-term level — the “warming up” signal (the trading “golden cross” analogue). Downwards — the number is losing frequency, “cooling down” (the “death cross”). Without a crossover, fast above slow — “hot”, below — “cold”.
Which window preset should I choose?
SMA 10/50 — short-term trends over the last dozens of draws, SMA 50/200 — the long-term picture. The shorter the window, the more random noise in the line; the longer it is, the more draws the archive must contain: if the history is shorter than the long window, values are not computed. Start with 10/50 and cross-check findings on 50/200.
How do SMA signals differ from cluster analysis?
The labels match, the mechanics differ. Here “warming up / cooling down” is an event on a specific number’s chart: a crossover of two moving averages at the latest draw. In cluster analysis it is the name of a group a number is assigned to by three features at once (frequency, depth, interval) over the whole period. SMA catches the turning moment, clusters describe the settled profile.
Can SMA predict a number being drawn?
No. Every KENO draw is an independent random event: in a fair drum frequency trends appear and vanish on their own, and a “warming up” signal does not raise a number’s chance in the next draw. SMA is a way to see the dynamics and select numbers by recent form, not a forecast; statistics-based generators can build a combination from such numbers.
